The Westlock Foundation not only offers affordable housing for seniors in Westlock and the surrounding area, but it also offers many choices of living styles. The Westlock Foundation is community living at its best and provides the freedom to make new friends and enjoy activities in a safe and home-like environment.

Located forty-five minutes north-west of the city of Edmonton in the province of Alberta, Westlock is in the heart of Seniors country. The Westlock community has many services and activities to enjoy. The Golden Age Drop-In Centre for seniors, the services of the Action Bus, the day support and recreational facilities of the Westlock Long Term Care, the excellent medical facilities of the Westlock Health Care Center, three medical clinics, a denture clinic and chiropractor facilities are a few of the drawing cards for this area. Also available are excellent shopping facilities, recreational facilities, a 10km Rotary walking trail, Library, Westlock Museum and Information Center and the Tractor Museum to name only a few.

Hairdressing services for residents are provided on site, as well as foot care clinics. On-site parking with electrical plug-ins available for those with their own vehicle, and for others, transportation provided by the local Action Bus (which operates during business hours five days a week) and the local taxi services. All denominations are represented as the Westlock Ministerial Association rotate the presentation of weekly services on site.

In the lodge rooms at Pembina Lodge (60 rooms) and Smithfield Lodge (44 rooms) , housekeeping and laundry services are provided, as well as all meals and snacks. Home Care staff are on site for a portion of each day to administer medications and eye drops, dressing and bathing assistance and to provide additional assistance when needed to their clients. Each facility has an individual smoking room for residents: otherwise, there is no smoking in the buildings.

Independent living is available in the fourplex unit adjacent to Pembina Lodge, known as Pembina Cottages. Each unit has separate bedroom, living room, complete kitchen and bathroom. Shared laundry facilities are located in the common area. Residents make their own Home Care arrangements and do their own housekeeping. Meals at Pembina Lodge can be easily accessed, as can the activities.

Westlock Foundation is a management body appointed by Ministerial Order, which receives a subsidy for those residents deemed eligible by the Provincial Government. A board of directors (comprised of elected officials - 2 from the Town of Westlock, 2 from the Westlock County, 1 from the Village of Clyde, and 1 from Lesser Slave River MD No. 124) administers policy. Administrator and staff provide the resident services, with service staff available on site twenty-four hours each day. Maintenance staff provide friendly service. Safety committee is very active to ensure the facilities meet all standards as legislated by Occupational Health and Safety.
