



Our senior residences are all located within the Town of Westlock, Alberta. There are many activities available within short walking distance from the residences. For 55 years and older - purpose is socializing and fun. Hours of operation Monday to Friday from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Lunch provided for $ 1.00. Membership is $ 10.00 year. Facility is non-smoking. The Westlock Municipal Library welcomes all patrons to come and browse through their
collection of books, videos, magazines and books on tape. For those with a slight
vision problem, there is a collection of Large Print titles. For those with a serious
vision problem, there is an arrangement with Visunet (CNIB) to obtain Talking Books.
Delivery to Pembina and Smithfield is provided by Library staff for those patrons with
mobility restrictions.
A library membership is just $ 7.00 for one year.
The transportation needs of the seniors and those physically challenged in the Town of
Westlock and the surrounding area are met by the friendly service of two Action Buses
which hold up to twelve passengers at a time, with room for two wheelchair passengers.

The Westlock Community Recreation Centre has a variety of fitness opportunities for all seniors.
Seniors needs are served through a variety of venues: for the pool - aquasize swim classes,
as well as a weekly senior swim and a fitness swim; for the land opportunities, there are
treadmills, bikes, and weights, as well as a Senior Sit and Be Fit fitness class.
The Westlock Rotary Trail was completed in 2000 and completely funded by the Westlock
Rotary Club. The trail travels 10 kilometers around Westlock, and takes visitors through
the town and into natural surrounding areas.
Westlock Healthcare Centre is an accredited sixty-two-bed facility, consisting of 50
acute and 2 long term care beds, 6 bassinets, and 4 daycare stretchers.
The facility is presently staffed with 10 physicians, providing 24-hour
emergency services, 7 days a week. The Centre provides primary inpatient,
outpatient, ambulatory and emergency care services including general surgery,
general medicine, limited orthopedic, ophthalmological and gynecological surgery,
obstetrics, pediatrics, special care, laboratory, diagnostic imaging,
tele-ultrasound, long term care and rehabilitation services.
A 5-bed dialysis unit run by the provincial program is attached. Nutritional
counseling is offered to inpatients and to outpatients, on an individual or group basis.
A CT scanner has been provided by monies raised within the Westlock community will occupy four rooms early in 2004.
